I graduated from St Mary’s University Belfast, with a B’Ed in Primary Education and I have been working in the primary school sector since 2009. In December 2019, I graduated from St Mary’s University in Belfast with a Masters in Leadership and Learning. I am now currently a teaching principal of a primary school.
As part of my role of teacher I have planned and taught lessons for all year groups, at times across key stages. Within these class groups I had to plan and set targets for children with IEPs, with a wide range of needs from handwriting issues to behaviour problems and also included children who have Specific Learning Difficulties.
To promote and reinforce learning I have used both the Accelerated Reading and Mathletics programs. I consider myself to be computer literate and promote confidence in using technology for all children. I am an honest, reliable person who can handle pressure situations well. I have always wanted to become a school principal and I have worked hard over the years to prepare myself for the leadership role I now hold. Under my leadership, my current school received ‘Very Good’ across all areas in a whole school inspection.

Experience: I have over 13 years experience of teaching primary school children. I am trained in the use of Assessment Manager and I am very familiar with the PTE and PTM Standardised tests. I have used date to identify underachieving children and then as a result of that set suitable targets to help them reach their academic goals. I also have identified gifted and talented children and ensured in my planning that my work was differentiated so they were challenged appropriately. I have experience of identifying areas that children and year groups may need to improve on and as a result set targets to reach for each Key Stage, Year group and class. I have created IEP`s for children and worked with outside agencies for children on Stage 4 and 5 of the Code of Practice. I am very familiar with the NI Curriculum and what levels the children should be working at in each year group. As school leader, I have experience of managing book scoops, checking planners for differentiation and ensuring all children in each class are doing work at their level and reaching their full potential. I have tutored children for the Transfer Test in Northern Ireland and have a very high success rate.
