Information about Benjamin
Hello! My name is Ben and I study Physics with Astrophysics at Bristol, I have recently completed my final year of a masters degree achieving a 2:1; I have an A* in A-level maths, an A in further maths, an A in physics and have years of experience in tutoring both maths and physics. I have taught groups in both schools and extra-curricular study environments; as well as having taught many students one on one both in person and online. Moreover, throughout my experience I have learnt many key skills for tutoring; although, I would say the most important is tailoring the experience to the pupil. To expand, this means no carbon copy lesson plans or robotic work sheets, I pride myself on providing a unique personal experience in my teaching no two students are the same so neither should their lessons be. I really like to understand the student and their needs, my lessons should mirror their school work so they can excel in class and get the best possible grades. I look forward to getting to know you!

Experience: As a personal tutor I plan, deliver and assess sessions for a range of students from GCSE to A-level and with varying capabilities. I mould the lessons to cater to the individual and ensure they have the best possible experience, often setting homework to maximise the amount of teaching I can provide. Additionally, I allow them to contact me if they are struggling with anything else outside of my tutelage. Furthermore, I liaise with parents and teachers to make the lessons mirror their school schedule and ask the parents how I can increase the enjoyment of the sessions.
For an extracurricular teaching body I worked under a qualified teacher in a private company providing extra tuition for students in various subjects. Here I taught maths and was tasked with ensuring the students understood what was required of them and how to improve and help them with any maths question they were finding challenging and teaching them how to solve the problem.
Under the supervision of a qualified teacher, I learnt how to tailor my explanations to the individual and understand the different ways in which people think, learn and develop.
In sixth form, I took an opportunity with my Physics teacher to assist the physics department with lessons. I helped a range of teachers teach various topics to a diverse selection of students across all secondary school ages. I helped with the planning of lessons, presenting lessons, and teaching students when a question or concept particularly challenged them.

Ben is a bright, enthusiastic young man, and works hard to connect to my very easily distracted son and deliver tuition that`s appropriate to his ability, whilst trying to expand his knowledge and push him a little. My son always ends up happy and more knowledgeable on the subject by the end of the lesson and appears to cover more in an hour on the subject with Ben than in the whole time he works on the subject in school. Bens approach is quite free. He usually asks at the beginning and end of each lesson what Max is working on at school and what he feels he needs help with and they go from there. The subject can be off-the-cuff and Ben is very knowable on every subject we have touched; without any time to prep on the subject, he is able to delve straight in - it is obvious he is very capable in Maths. We are very happy with Ben and would recommend him as a tutor.
