Information about Anieka

- 94% GCSE A* to C/ Level 9 to 6 success rate
- Head of Department for Secondary English [2018 - ongoing]

At the core of my ethos is a strategy that nurtures and sustains tangible relationships with students, parents and members of staff to heighten academic excellence, self-esteem and transferable soft skills (such as integrity and accountability).

With my past four Professional Development Reviews recognising that I am an “outstanding and exemplary practitioner” (second by Senior HMI Christine Raeside and Dame Sally Coates), I have had the honour of facilitating the progress of every individual pupil across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

As the Head of English, it is my responsibility to prepare Schemes of Learning (SOL) that mimic the Assessment Objectives of the recently revised curriculum. Ergo, through my meticulously planned SOL, students as young as Year 7, are exposed to 19th century literature; modern plays; conflict poetry and Shakespearean texts throughout the year, providing our young people with ample opportunities to appreciate the complex themes and contextual factors that have influenced the creation of traditional texts within Britain’s literary canon, as well as equipping them with transferable know-how (e.g. the conventions of gothic literature) needed to secure proficient learners of English.

Throughout the years, I have developed unique revision strategies and resources that develop the varing ability of students subsequently unmasking these literary masterpieces raises both the attainment our of Pupil Premium students (who may have preconceived ideas or reservations towards literature) and our Scholars (students who have achieved CAT scores of 120+, approximately constituting for ten percent of our school’s cohort and thus need to be continually stretched and challenged).

Availability: I am available to tutor every week day between the hours of 5pm to 7pm and on the weekend from 9am to 11am.
