Information about Abdullah

I am an experienced professional tutor with an Honours degree, BSc(Hons), in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Loughborough University. I decided to study Engineering at University because it allowed me to study advanced Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science.

I bring an exceptionally high standard of teaching to my lessons. My key strength is the breadth and depth of my mathematical knowledge alongside my ability to communicate complex ideas simply and in an intellectually stimulating manner. All of my tutees have attained or surpassed their expected grades with some achieving as much as a 5-grade improvement over the course of their tuition. My students regularly secure places at the best universities in the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and University of Chicago.

My goal is to make maths fun and accessible to anyone. As such, I work for a charity which gives free online maths tuition sessions to Year 11 students who come from a disadvantaged background from accross the country. I am part of the team who creates the scheme of work to ensure that the students gain the most out of the sessions. The aim of this scheme is to eventually roll this program out to most schools across the country. I was recently nominated for a `Transforming Lives 2020` award.

My approach to tutoring is to consider every student as an individual and to make learning fun. I have a passion for the subjects that I teach and I try to enthuse my students too. A happy student is a more productive student and I endeavour to make my tutoring sessions a highlight of their week, rather than a chore.

Whether you are someone who is struggling with the subject, or someone who wants to improve your grade or get an A* in the exam for your University place, I offer a bespoke tutoring experience. In addition to teaching the subject content, I cover exam preparation, including working through past papers and exam techniques. I provide revision plans tailored to the individual. I also offer reading lists for students preparing for University interviews. Nearer exam time, I can offer intensive revision sessions where I tutor in groups or individually.

All my students can contact me by WhatsApp to ask questions for free and I usually reply within 2 hours such that our tutorial time can focus on exam practice and teaching.

Experience: My tutoring experience began when, as an A Level student, I started a tuition club at my school. The club consisted of A-level students helping and tutoring students from lower years in mathematics and physcis. The club has since become a tradition in the school and is still running to this day.

During my degree, I volunteered to help at local schools as an assistant teacher. In my second and third year of university, I ran sessions in which I would teach mathematics to engineering students from the previous years. This is when I realized my passion for teaching and decided to become a teacher. I graduated with outstanding marks in my PGCE. I currently teach at one of the best non-independant sixth form schools in the country, located in Westminster. I am also an examiner with edexcel. Being an examiner means I know all the common misconceptions that students make during an exam, and I know the best techniques to answer exam-style questions.

Alongside teaching, tutoring is my main profession now and I have experience tutoring at many levels across a number of subjects with different examining boards. I have 1000+ hrs tutoring experience over many years. My A level Maths students regularly get into Russell Group Universities (e.g. Oxford, UCL, Kings College, Manchester, Leeds, etc). My most recent student gained an A grade at A levels, 4 grades above their predicted of E.

I am familiar with the syllabus of all the major exam boards Edexcel, AQA, WJEC/Eduqas and OCR. I also offer tutoring at International Baccalaureate level.

I have excellent academic credentials and teaching/training experience. I believe I can help any student improve their exam grade and reach their full potential. Most of all, I want to see them succeed.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
