I decided to tutor because I wanted to combine my passion for maths with the enjoyment I get from interacting with young people. Through Scout leading, I have gained much experience educating young people in an out-of-school environment.
Tutoring gives me the opportunity to foster rapid progression with maths by identifying weaknesses and strengthening these complement the work done by teachers in school. I like getting to know a child’s interests to make the maths as applicable as possible. (“When will I ever use this?!”)
I am well rounded and have a diverse foundation of academic studies which include physics, accounting and finance, psychology, drama and environmental science. Through teaching I know the current maths curriculum well and am prepared for the coming changes to the maths GCSE.
I am keen to use what I have observed and experienced from all of my backgrounds so that I can help students understand maths and its relevance in life. I hope to use my character and experiences to dispel the image that some young people have of maths being too difficult to master.

Availability: Most mornings and evenings after 8pm.

Experience: 2014 - Qualified Maths Teacher - I teach for the Northallerton and Catterick Federation. I have experience in a variety of schools including catholic and C of E schools and academies in Bradford, Leeds, Kendal and Herefordshire.
2012 - Environmental Mathematics degree from Lancaster University.

2010 - Qualified Scout Leader for 9 years (11 - 18 years old , but also working with younger and older sections - Beavers and Cubs.
Along the way I have been involved in various schools and summer camps run for children with disabilities, English as a second language and other additional needs.
