Information about Carlie
I`m Carlie, I`m 23 and a recent MA Modern History Graduate from Swansea. Why would you make a great tutor? I am an enthusiastic person who loves history and English literature! I understand reliable sources, interpretations, analysis and more. How would you plan to help your students and what would you do during the sessions? I use a multitude of teaching techniques including audio and visual. I understand how difficult it is if a student has anxiety or learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and I believe patience is the key. I like to use colour paper, digital software, colour pens and more! I know techniques to help calm people down in stressful situations and would love to show prospective students how to utilise this when sitting exams or doing their coursework. What qualifications make your suitable? I would make an ideal tutor as I have studied history, its practices and approaches for over 4 years at Swansea University. Also, I have worked as a teaching assistant in Welsh schools which shows I am able to help people overcome stressful and challenging topics with the use of different teaching techniques. What is your knowledge of the curriculum and exam expectations? I know what it is like to sit exams: they are stressful and cause anxiety. There are lots of different things to learn and it can be an overwhelming experience. The current GCSE curriculum has not changed drastically, and there are useful books and study guides, usually made by the schools, to help students learn and understand topics before exams.
