Information about Christina

I am a Year 4 teacher and staff Governor at a school in central Cambridge. I was the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at an established Independent School as well as acting SENDCo at my current school.
I am 37 years old and have been teaching for 16 years and have a wealth of experience across all age ranges up to 14 years old at both State and Independently funded schools.
I started my career in London and worked there for 3 years and then decided to move back to my hometown of Cambridge and build on my career, get married and now I have 2 little girls.
I am fun but firm and most of all a happy person. I was tutored as a child and can remember how daunting it was however I am now have a great career because of that tutor!

I offer a very positive approach to learning and offer many modern and traditional methods of teaching.
I am able to travel to your home and also offer tuition at my home in Central Cambridge. At the moment I am only offering online tuition.

Availability: Thursdays 4:30-6:00

Saturdays 10:00-2:00

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have been tutoring for 8 years, mainly 11+ entrance exams to Independent Schools across the country. I also offer online Skype sessions to students abroad. I have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language and the More Able Gifted and Talented Children and SEN.
In my eyes the most important aspect of tutoring is that the child monitors and takes control of their own progress. It is vital that the child knows what they are working towards and I therefore encourage them to set personal goals, whatever their age.
The parents must also be fully involved and keep the class teacher up to date with any issues or progress made. All adults within the child`s learning must be communicating at some level and I am happy to write letters or notes to the class teacher on the child`s behalf explaining what the sessions with myself will entail.
I endeavour to continue with the context your child is focusing on at school and also help them with their homework should this be the case.
Children learn and retain information in different ways so I offer lots of techniques to access their working memory.
