Information about Dominic
Hello, thank you for looking at my profile. I am a former Head of Politics and teacher of History at one of the UK`s leading independent schools.
My academic background is as a Politics and International Relations graduate of the Universities of Exeter, Edinburgh and Cambridge, and with a PGCE teaching qualification in History from Oxford University.
I now work freelance for the Foreign Office and the EU on election observations overseas, am writing a book about electoral fraud around the world in addition to providing long and and short-term tuition to a select few motivated students helping them achieve outstanding success. I also visit schools around the country giving Sixth Form lectures about democracy and teaching political literacy.
I know that my rates are high - but that is because I am highly qualified, and though I don`t take that many students I do get results for them.
Availability: I am flexible and available to tutor most of the week during the day or the evening. Because of the nature of my other work, I sometimes need to be out of the country for a week or two, but I can always make time to make up missed regular sessions, or if necessary, tutor by Skype.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I was a teacher for almost a decade at Merchant Taylors` School, one of the top 20 in the country. My results were outstanding - for instance my last GCSE History set had 100% A.A, of which 75% were at A* (national average 17%), and my Politics students achieved up to 60% A* (national average 7%).
I was also the PPE/HSPS Oxbridge Advisor at MTS (with 100% success rate of helping applicants gain offers at Oxbridge), as well as the UCAS Advisor for Russell Group applicants. I can guide parents and students through the whole UCAS process including university choices and offer help with writing and editing personal statements.
I have been a part-time tutor for around 15 years, tutoring all kinds of children and adults, from committed learners in comprehensive schools to Middle Eastern princesses and the sons of Russian expatriates.
