Information about Eleesha

Hi! My name’s Eleesha and I’m in my 3rd year of studying medicine at university. I’m currently tutoring GCSE and A-level students and I would be happy to assist and help you with Primary/GCSE maths, A-level Biology and Chemistry.

Before lessons, I will enquire about any weak areas and current topics that you are learning at school. Using that information, I will construct a lesson plan, consisting of an exam question at the beginning to assess your prior knowledge on the topic, followed by teaching and spending the last portion of the lesson going through exam-style questions. However, depending on how confident you are, the lesson plan is flexible and I will be able to increase or reduce the amount of teaching done every session. I would also encourage you to give me feedback after the lesson so that I can improve my lessons in a way that is helpful for you. I aim to individualise lessons to each student for optimal learning outcomes.

My experience with Biology, Chemistry and Maths, will help me to guide and teach these subjects, with an understanding of the curriculum and exams. I completed Biology and Chemistry (OCR A) at A-level and Maths (Edexcel), Biology and Chemistry (AQA) at GCSE. I achieved A*AA at A-level and two 9s, six 8s, two 7s and a 6 at GCSE. I will be able to use that knowledge and previous experience with exams to mentor you, in order to get the best possible grades.

Experience: In the past, I`ve had the opportunity to tutor family and friends in various subjects during sixth form and university. I shared my knowledge and helped them understand difficult concepts in ways that resonate with their learning styles. Whether it`s guiding a younger sibling with homework or teaching a friend a topic, I`ve gained skills of patience and adaptability to effectively support their learning. A key aspect of tutoring that I enjoy is adapting and personalising teaching styles for each student, as each student is unique with individual strengths and weaknesses, which solidifies confidence in their abilities. The most important skill that I have learned is clear communication, as this lays the foundation for a strong rapport, where students feel comfortable enough to question and express doubts, for the benefit of their learning. Through this, I have been able to enhance my teaching style and learn from my students using their individual feedback. My previous experiences with teaching students has also brought me personal fulfilment when seeing students grow academically and reach their full potential. Making students feel empowered and having a meaningful and lasting impact on them drives me to assist them on their academic journey.
