Information about Jane
I am a supportive, qualified and experienced KS1/KS2 teacher.
Having been a primary school teacher for over twenty years I have the skills and knowledge to help your child make progress and become more confident in their learning. My current role involves teaching groups of Y6 pupils Maths and English, supporting individual children to understand concepts they have found tricky as well as teaching across the whole primary age range. I also recently provided targeted support for some Y2 children who needed some additional help. As I work in a local school I have an up to date knowledge of the National Curriculum and an in-depth understanding of Y6 SATS expectations. I find teaching individuals or small groups very rewarding as children can then make progress quickly and there is a chance to give lots of praise and encouragement. I can plan and deliver sessions that are varied and interesting, keeping your child fully engaged and motivated. I use a variety of games and activities and always aim to help children believe in themselves and grow in confidence. I can clearly explain difficult concepts but also like to encourage children to try and tackle problems and tasks more independently through carefully selected questions or prompts. Over the years I have taught children with a wide range of additional special needs and have undertaken further training in teaching children with dsylexia. As I subscribe to the DBS update service my status regarding safeguarding can be checked on line at any time. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or would simply like to chat about your child`s learning needs and find out how I can help.
Availability: I am available after school on some weekdays. I am also able to teach pairs of children, please get in touch to discuss what is possible. If teaching two consecutive hours at the same address for siblings/friends a discount can be arranged.
