Information about Magdalena
I am a qualified teacher of Mathematics Cambridge University (PGCE), experienced at working in both comprehensive secondary schools and more recently, a highly selective grammar school. I have proven track record of high performance and a reputation for achieving excellent results for my students.
I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, in July 2010, where I earned a First Class degree in Mathematics (BSc). In July 2012 I graduated from Cambridge University and obtained a Masters degree in Advanced Study (MASt) in Mathematics. As my ultimate goal was to become a mathematics teacher, I subsequently commenced my PGCE course at Cambridge University specialising in Secondary Mathematics, graduating in 2014. As a tutor, I am interested in working in secondary level of education as I feel this is the level where my mathematical knowledge and experience would be most useful to students.
I have gained an understanding of child behaviour as a result of being a live-in Nanny for a variety of families from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Availability: I am fully booked for this academic year.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I love my job! As a mathematics tutor, I am privileged to be able to inspire young people and ensure they have access to the most up-to-date methods of mathematic teaching techniques to help with their understanding of the subject.
As an example, when preparing a group of low attaining Y11 pupils with a range of special educational needs, I managed to utilise my teaching techniques to accommodate their learning needs. I also focused on increasing the students confidence, working closely with teaching assistants to provide extra one-to-one teaching during break times. All of my students achieved grades far beyond their predicted grades.
Overall, I have 13 years of teaching/tutoring experience. As a qualified teacher, I have worked in a comprehensive secondary school in Cambridgeshire where I taught Edexcel syllabus to a wide range of students abilities. Prior to becoming a full-time tutor I had worked as a teacher of mathematics in a highly selective grammar school located in Orpington teaching AQA at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and MEI OCR syllabus for A-level students. Since 2012, I have also collaborated with the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) where I have functioned as a marker of Mathematics Olympiads. This collaboration advanced my skills in helping students in their preparation for Mathematics Olympiads and Challenges.
Feedback For Magdalena (6)
Magdalena has exceeded our expectations. She always goes the extra mile in her teaching and above and beyond what we could reasonably expect from a tutor. Indeed, she has demonstrated that she really does genuinely care about our sons progress and has shown huge commitment to improving and developing his skills. She adopts a very methodical approach, meticulously planning each lesson in advance so time is used most effectively and giving detailed feedback after each lesson. She always ensures that she sets relevant homework and provides appropriate feedback once she has marked the same. In summary, we would not hesitate in recommending her services to anyone else requiring support for their child in their A level mathematics studies.
Magdelena is, quite simply, excellent. My 18 year old is strong at maths and sought additional help in order to troubleshoot a few areas before taking maths A-level and in order re-build confidence so as to achieve full potential in the exam. Magdelena is extremely well prepared for all sessions, has got to know strengths and areas for improvement very quickly. Fundamentally, Magdelena provides expertise and positive support during the sessions and extremely constructive and practical feedback after each session, supplying extra papers and specific questions which are to be carried out beforehand . Her prompt feedback is detailed and valuable. She has also been clear, reliable and flexible with lessons and timings which has meant that things run smoothly. We are so glad we found her and thoroughly recommend her.
Magdalena is a fantastic teacher, she has a wealth of experience, knowledge and patience, provides feedback after every session so you know what progress is being made and my daughter is growing in confidence already after very few sessions. I would highly recommend
Magdalena is an excellent tutor, shes very good at teaching, very organised and a very pleasant person. My daughter has benefitted from her tutoring and has made notable progress. I would recommend her.
Magdalena is a very organised tutor. My son is very happy with her teaching method.
I highly recommend her, wished we had booked her earlier.
Very structured and methodological in her approach. Able to identify both the strengths and weaknesses after a few lessons. Spends extra time if needed and ensures the topic under review is fully understood. This is then reinforced by specific questions covering those topics. Detailed feedback is provided after each lesson. Cant fault Magdelena. Highly recommended!
