Information about Tristan

Having graduated second in my year in Materials Science at Imperial College London, I now tutor alongside my studies towards a PhD. I specialise in Maths, Physics and Chemistry at GCSE and A-Level and have >350 hours of 1-to-1 tutoring experience.

I have always thoroughly enjoyed my studies and believe that the key to excelling in learning comes from having a tutor that has a passion for the material they are teaching.

At 26, I can relate to the challenge that students face and as a high achieving, approachable person, I am well set to help facilitate a student overcome these challenges.

As a PhD student, I am well-versed with the processes involved with gaining admission to a prestigious University. However, I feel it is important not to let this define one`s approach to teaching. It is vital that children are given the space to build their confidence and abilities in a supportive environment which is focussed on allowing them to develop given skill sets. Experience shows that with this approach, results usually follow.

The most important thing is assessing what we`d like to get out of the experience and then setting our goals based on that. These can vary from completing a piece of coursework, all the way to a year-long program that will culminate in the achievement of a desired grade.

Once we`ve established these goals, the next step is to identify our `strong points` and our `points to work on`. This allows us to tailor sessions so that we can reinforce the pupil`s confidence with areas they are more familiar with, whilst prioritising the most important topics and tasks.

As a graduate who has been through the system from start to finish, I provide a relatable, qualified and friendly option for students of any age.
