Information about Mandeep

Having taught for more than four years as a mathematics teacher, I have had sufficient experience teaching all attainment levels and have helped students meet or even exceed their target grade.
I have been fond of maths since I was in school and always try and find ways to make it accessible to all. The beauty of maths is that they will always be a solution to a problem and this is what I pass onto the students I tutor.

Experience: Having taught in secondary schools for more than four years and specialising in KS3 and GCSE years, I am interested in the vast majority of ways students can learn and how there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to teaching and learning. Due to this, my teaching approach is holistic which focuses on understanding the students’ learning needs and misconceptions that they may have before teaching the content.
My approach is about ensuring students understand why we are doing this and thus over time, they can form the connections between topics which consolidates the learning process.

My lessons are always structured in a way that allows students to see a modelled example (which I do), followed by one which is done by the student with support and then an example which is done independently to see whether the student has grasped the concept. The examples are selectively chosen to ensure progress can be made and is evident after each lesson. This approach has been supported by research and is proven to be effective (Fisher & Frey, 2007).
