Information about Maria
Hi, I`m Maria and I have experience tutoring KS3 and GCSE students online as I am a registered tutor. I am a first year student currently studying Biochemistry at the University of Manchester. In school I always loved the sciences and maths as I have quite an analytical brain. This really benefitted me during exam season as I am good at being able to understand a mark scheme and answer a question accordingly. Over the years, I have experimented with different revision techniques as I understand that when it comes to learning there isn`t a one size fits all approach and this helped me massively to memorise information. I have always been the person to help a struggling classmate understand a topic and I look forward to being able to do the same for my students.
In my tutoring sessions I would first identify gaps in my student`s knowledge and topics that they find particularly challenging, focusing on improving these first so they can feel more confident in the subject. Along with learning, we will go through plenty of practice questions so they can begin to understand and identify key words and concepts that the mark scheme is looking for and with enough practice these will become a part of the student`s muscle memory. I would personalise my approach to each student to optimise memory retrieval because, as I`ve said, I myself struggled to find a technique that worked for me and know that some people may prefer drawing mind maps from memory, as I do, or reciting aloud, or one of the many other revision methods.
