Lara

Hi, I`m Lara, a recent graduate in Spanish from the University of Oxford. I tutor up to University level Spanish, English, Drama, and also have a lot of experience in tutoring for the 7+ and 11+ exams.

I have been tutoring for around five years, and spent the last year working as an English teacher in Santiago, Chile with the British Council. I have experience teaching and tutoring people with a wide range of abilities, from beginner to advanced.

As a recent student, I know how challenging learning certain subjects can be, especially a foreign language. As a tutor I like to make sure that lessons are fun and engaging, as well as helpful. I try not to give away the answers or lecture too much, instead to work with the student so that they reach the answer on their own and feel confident in their own abilities.

I`m passionate about literature, and I work a lot with students who find English challenging or boring, trying to inspire them to fall in love with reading. I focus a lot on grammar as well, as without a good foundation in grammar you will really struggle to get top marks.

Having done my university application only three years ago, the process is still very much fresh in my mind and so I would I be more than capable of helping others hoping to go to Oxbridge or other universities.

I can provide both an ICPC (International Child Protection Certificate) and DBS certificate (criminal record check).

Availability: I am available almost every day.

Experience: At present I tutor around 12 students in everything from beginner Spanish for a 5 year old, up to English GCSE.

I teach English, Maths, non-verbal reasoning and verbal reasoning for both the 7+ and 11+ examinations to 7 students. My past students have successfully gone on to secure places for Bradfield, Marlborough and St Edwards.

I worked for the British Council teaching English as a foreign language for a year in Chile, working with large classes as well as giving several one on one sessions with various students of a range of ages.
