Information about Richard

7+ and 11+ Creative Writing/English specialist tutor - 100% success rate of getting students into Tiffin School. The reason why my rates are higher than average is that I can achieve in one lesson what most tutors cannot achieve in three. I am an exceptional tutor and so are the results that I achieve with my students.

My 11+ Creative Writing techniques are so innovative and effective that I can guarantee a substantial improvement within one lesson.

My name is Richard , I went to Tiffin School and graduated with a BSc Economics degree from UCL. I worked at UBS investment bank on the graduate scheme before spending the next 5 years of my career at various hedge funds as an analyst. I achieved 10A*s and 2As at GCSE and have straight A`s at A Level (Maths, Biology, Chemistry) as well as AS level German and Further Maths (also A grades).

From my experience, the financial industry is extremely rewarding financially but offers little more. Tutoring has always appealed to me because helping others achieve their goal is extremely rewarding intrinsically and I have enjoyed working with children in my past experiences.

I am fortunate enough to have made sufficient money to be financially independent. This has meant that I am now able to turn my passion for tutoring into a career. I have always been one of the best in whatever I have done academically and professionally; tutoring is no different - my ultimate aim on a personal level is to be regarded as the best 11+ tutor in the London/Middlesex/Surrey area.

I feel that my teaching style has always brought the best out of my students and my philosophy has always been results driven - give me the goal that you wish to achieve and let me help you achieve it.

My focus is always on results, I specialise in building the foundation knowledge and honing exam techniques.

The three most common words that students describe my lessons are: fun, engaging and educational.

Availability: On the weekends my availability is limited as I am running a well-known tuition centre for Eleven Plus (11+) Entrance exams so most of my one to one lessons are held during weekdays.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I first realised that I had a potential future in education in secondary school since I was always the person that other students came to when they wanted help with their homework.

Being an entrepreneurial teen, I would charge my peers one pound each time they wanted help with their homework or coursework!

Whilst I was studying Economics, in my first year at UCL, I decided that I wanted to make a positive impact both to the local community and to my CV so I co-founded Mathomaniac.

Mathomaniac was a voluntary project where I lead a team of ten UCL students to tutor maths at a local primary school in Islington with the aim of to making maths both educational and enjoyable. I devised all the lesson plans myself and made great effort to ensure that the kids had as much fun as they did in learning about subjects such as shapes, negative numbers and fractions.

In 2010, Mathomaniac won the Community Impact Award given by the UCL un ion Volunteering Services Unit.

I worked briefly as a private tutor, teaching subjects from Economics to primary school English to 11 Plus entrance exams, to help fund my studies at Uni and it was an experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.

However, the key moment that I realised that I was an exceptional tutor was when I was working at a hedge fund called Lucidus Capital Partners and the CEO asked me to help his son with maths. The CEO`s son would come into the office occasionally and I would be excused from work duties so that I could spend time with him on KS3 maths topics. What was remarkable was that within 3 months, the CEO`s son moved from the bottom set to the top set and he scored top marks amongst his peers in the top set. I was thanked endlessly by the CEO and I would be happy to provide a reference for this if you so wish.

I have had other instances where my past clients have done extremely well, mainly involving helping students move from bottom or middle sets to top sets. I tutored a girl to get straight As at A level so that she can study Medicine at Imperial.
