Information about Amy
I am a Teacher of English at a fully comprehensive Secondary School in Greater Manchester (Year 7-11), with experience teaching the AQA specification.
I hold a BA HONS in Education and Special Educational Needs and a Secondary English PGCE (Outstanding)-both qualifications were obtained at Liverpool Hope University.
My degree has meant that my practice is fully inclusive of all pupils as my specialism is teaching pupils with SEND.
As well as my degree and PGCE, I also completed two Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses in English, at university, before studying for my PGCE.
I have a detailed insight and understanding of the educational system, as I attend regular examiner meetings to moderate and standardise exam scri pts. This has given me a thorough knowledge of what AQA is asking for at GCSE level from candidates sitting the exam.
My tutoring sessions will allow students to practise the skills needed for exams, allowing them to hone their technique for full confidence in their exams and assessments.
I am happy to mark written responses, or live mark written responses, and provide feedback to pupils; this feedback will always be in line with the examiners` mark scheme.
As well as this, I will also share tips and tricks of what examiners are looking for.
My teaching focuses on refining the skills that pupils need to answer questions in exams. I believe in practising to improve and metacognition - so pupils understand WHY they are doing something and HOW it will benefit them.
