Trained research-level mathematician with 7 years experience teaching maths.
My focus is on asking you questions to motivate ideas and ensure your understanding, and I enjoy finding creative and personalised ways to explain things.
I am enthusiastic and passionate, but also patient. I find it incredibly rewarding to enable my students to progress and reach their goals.
I take a tailored approach to tutoring, adapting both style and material to your individual needs.
Availability: My hours are flexible. I’m usually available afternoons and evenings on weekdays. Please contact me to work out a suitable time.

Experience: I have a total of 7 years experience teaching maths. I spent 3½ years teaching undergraduate maths at the University of Sheffield on both an individual basis and to classes of up to 30 students. My tutoring experience also ranges all the way from KS2 to GCSE and A-level maths.
I`m currently available to teach A-Level Maths and A-Level Further Maths (all modules), as well as maths admissions tests for Cambridge (STEP) and Oxford, and degree level maths.

Sam tutored my daughter online in year 13 for Maths A Level and also provided support with her Cambridge application. Sam explained challenging areas well and provided opportunities to explore more complex topics. Sam was reliable and provided feedback via email each week and on the phone when required. My daughter achieved an A* in Maths A Level and place at Cambridge to study Veterinary Medicine. I would highly recommend Sam as a Maths tutor for A Level.

Sam has taught my son A-level Maths for the past 2 years. He is an absolutely fantastic tutor. Before Sam started tutoring my son, he was lacking in confidence, could not do the harder application questions and was really struggling to produce grade A work in class. He would come home feeling down having not understood a new topic. I had tried previously to find a tutor but having tried qualified Maths teachers, had become disillusioned as the teachers themselves seemed to struggle on the harder Y12 questions! I tried Sam on the basis that he had a First in Maths from Cambridge - and am so grateful that we found him! From the very first lesson, he was able to explain topics in such a way that my son understood; in fact, he has been able to immediately explain and answer every single question that my son has put to him. He is very patient, supportive, professional and has always worked really hard to help our son achieve his very best. Our son began to engage again with Maths and his confidence and enthusiasm grew, with Sam`s input and support. Without him, our son would have failed Maths; instead he achieved a top grade and has secured a place at his desired university. We cannot praise Sam highly enough!
