I am a qualified Maths teacher with 7 years of experience teaching in inner London secondary schools. I have an excellent track record of improving student attainment as well as increasing student engagement with the subject. I have done one-to-one tutoring, both in person and online, for around 5 years. I have tutored students in KS2 and I have extensive experience working with learners who are not confident in Maths, particularly in KS3 and KS4. I also have extensive experience in organising enrichment activities that go beyond the scope of the national curriculum for learners who like the additional challenge.

Experience: I draw on a broad range of resources, adapting them for the level and needs of the learner. I like to ask open-ended questions and design tasks to gauge the learner’s level and uncover any misconceptions. The book I use the most in my planning is “Thinkers” designed by ATM to provoke mathematical thinking.

If the learner is studying towards an exam, I use the specification of their exam board to create a medium-term plan and work with them over time to develop their exam technique. My aim is not only a good exam performance; through the lessons I aim to create opportunities for young people to develop the tools and the confidence to think mathematically and critically and for them to become intentional about their learning, to gain confidence in their skills, and to become increasingly independent as learners.
