Information about Stephanie
I am a passionate former maths teacher with excellent subject knowledge who offers tuition tailored to each students individual needs. I have recently started a new career in the railway industry but still very much enjoy tutoring. I am an approachable and friendly person which helps my students to feel relaxed and fully engaged in my lessons.
In my spare time I love playing badminton, skiing and snowboarding.
Availability: I am based in the west of Milton Keynes MK4, MK5, MK8 (outside of this area may be possible depending on my schedule/travel time). Get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Available Monday/Friday evening or weekends to prepare for 2023 exams or longer term.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I am highly qualified in mathematics, with a masters degree from Durham University, as well as being an experienced teacher and examiner. I taught for 8 years beginning in a local comprehensive school then moving on to a prestigious independent school. I have taught A Level Maths, Futher Maths, GCSE and IGCSE qualifications for the AQA and Edexcel exam boards as well as KS3 maths and physics.
Through my experience as a full-time secondary school teacher, I have developed a thorough understanding of the curriculum and childrens learning needs. This means that I can be very adaptable to your childs requirements. I am able to design my questioning and explanations to target the common misconceptions that pupils may have; focus on the most important content and techniques to prepare for exams; adapt methods to suit the child; and build up confidence with appropriate starting points and scaffolding.
In addition, my work as an expert GCSE examiner for Edexcel means that I know exactly how marks are awarded for this qualification and the type and style of problem demanded from the new GCSEs, as well as common mistakes and successful methods.
I am willing to tutor pupils in Year 6, KS3 and those studying for GCSE, IGCSE and A level.

Steph is brilliant. Always available when needed and flexible. Aside from this though she has really helped my son understand maths - he actually really enjoys his lessons with Steph!!

Very professional. My son was really not keen on having a tutor but now, even after just a couple of sessions, he is already finding it very beneficial, generally feeling a little happier about the subject and is checking that Steph will be coming every week. Good news all round.
