Information about Sarah

I`m Sarah and I have recently graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a Master`s degree in Theoretical Physics. I am currently working as a research assistant working on publishing my Master`s thesis.

I am very passionate about the physical sciences, as well as helping people reach their full potential within them. I have always loved sharing science with others and one of my favourite hobbies is discussing research papers with fellow colleagues and peers. This often results in one of us explaining difficult concepts to the others, which I find incredibly useful as I study for my degree, and think this has allowed me to improve my teaching skills, working out new and effective ways to explain the concepts and terms which I wish to convey to others. I am good at breaking down big chunks of difficult-to-understand information into smaller sections, using more basic language, making terms and concepts much easier to understand and comprehend.

I have enjoyed maths since I was young and have grown to find it even more interesting as I have studied physics, which is the application of maths. I love how logical the subject is and how it requires comprehensive problem-solving skills. On a deeper level, I am very passionate about trying to understand the universe as thoroughly as possible, and I think studying physics allows me to be at the forefront of the new and exciting ventures which allow us to learn more about the universe we live in. I am an enthusiastic scientist and am eager to help others develop their knowledge of and love for science.

Experience: At school, I studied Physics, Maths, Mechanics and Chemistry to Advanced Higher level. Throughout my school career, I tutored both high school and degree-level physics to peers and other students.

I also volunteer at LEAPS which allows me to talk to groups of high school students from 3rd to 6th year. We discuss life at university and academics. This has greatly improved my communication skills with high school students.

I find it rewarding to help other people work through specific problems or problem areas in these subjects. I do this by, as I previously mentioned, breaking concepts down to make them easier to grasp.

I also have experience from my university course, including placements in which I have had to give various presentations. These presentations required me to discuss research papers I had written and explain the complex concepts within them at a more understandable and general level, so people from other research areas can understand.

one lesson received out of 5 booked , rescheduling all the time then cancelling minutes before. charged for lesson that didnt even go ahead and having to chase with emails to get money back

Tutors Response :

I am so sorry you have had such a negative impression of me. Only two lessons had to be cancelled by me (unfortunately, down to illness), the other two were because you did not show up and did not let me know, so I am allowed to collect payment (which I refunded you). Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Sarah is an amazing tutor and she provides great support for me. I feel comfortable during our sessions and I don’t really like physics but I always look forward to our lessons. When I don’t understand a topic she helps me and makes sure I understand. I feel motivated and engaged during our lessons. Over all she is a great tutor! :)
