Information about Kerry
I tutor English Language and Literature A level, GCSE, KS 3 and Primary English. I also teach ESL English to International students from Yr 3 to Adult advanced Ph.D. students one to one or in groups. I have tutored children for common entrance and for scholarships to some of the top independent schools. I also have many years experience with learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
I have an MA in Creative writing, TEFL qualification, 8 years experience working in state and Independent primary schools and I am a published author of Young adult fiction. I really enjoy my work and I know that I can make a difference.
Availability: Most days of the week from lunch time to early evening and Saturdays
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Twenty years experience of working part-time in schools and colleges at all levels and ages.
Eight years experience as a learning support teacher in Independent and state primary schools.Six years experience as a private tutor. I have set up and run holiday clubs for creative children.
I have worked with very able children, advanced level adult Learners as well as deaf language learners and children with specific learning difficulties.

Kerry is a friendly and patient tutor and makes sure I`ve understood the task. She asks if I like the task she sets me and if I`m comfortable doing it. I`ve only had two lessons with her but she`s helped me massively already. Her lessons are both fun and helpful.

Have only been using Kerry for three weeks. She is getting on well with my son, very courteous, calm and patient. Obviously difficult to assess after only three weeks and I’d rather have left a review after a longer period but TutorHunt sending almost daily reminders about leaving a review so I had to leave this now. Kerry seems like a very nice lady and we look forward to continuing to work with her.

My son has been receiving private English (GCSE) tuition from Kerry for 9 months so far. He has Social Communication needs and was lacking confidence in his learning when we first started these sessions. Kerry showed a high level of patience in the first few weeks to settle his nerves, gain his trust and reassure him about his capability. Gradually his confidence in his own ability in English has grown and having been working at a level below gcse standard when he started he is now on target to achieve a level 5 result when he completes his learning next year. Unlocking his confidence and skills has helped him not just to start achieving in his English but has helped him to push up his levels across all his subjects. We couldn’t be happier with what Kerry has achieved with Our son.

Kerry has been great, very flexible and professional whilst adapting tutoring style to meet my sons needs. He really struggled but has gradually improved thanks to Kerry’s tutoring. Fingers crossed now for GCSE results later this year!
