Peter

I am a 26 year old graduate from the University of Warwick where I obtained a first class masters degree in physics.

I have 5 years tutoring experience, specialising in maths and physics at A-Level and GCSE. Specialising in this manner allows me to provide the best service possible and has made the transition to the new A Level and GCSE formats straightforward.

I believe the best way to learn any subject at any level is to go back to basics and break the subject down into more manageable, bite-size steps. This is the method I have used throughout my own academic career, allowing me to obtain strong results from GCSE through to degree level. For example, the mark I received for GCSE physics ranked me amongst the top 10 students in the country and I have since achieved a high 1st at the University of Warwick where I studied physics. Aside from teaching, I have a passion for adventure. Most recently, I cycled from Canada to Mexico. In the past I have cycled across Europe and Nicaragua, hiked sections of the Appalachian Trail and trekked the GR20. I actively encourage my students to engage in exciting extra curricular activities and I hope to run summer trips for them in the near future.

Availability: Weekdays - all day

I offer traditional face to face tuition as well as online tuition. For the latter, I use graphics tablets and an online collaborative whiteboard with inbuilt video and audio capabilities. Students are often surprised at how well this replicates the face to face environment. What’s more, all lessons are stored online and can be revisited anytime, anywhere. Students who sign up for this service receive a free graphics tablet for use in our lessons.

Experience: I am now in my fifth year as a full time private tutor and I have enjoyed watching my students grow in both confidence and ability during this time (please see feedback section). I have over 8,000 hours of teaching experience; I`ve taught maths and physics to students studying all the major exam boards, old and new; and I have accumulated a wealth of my own resources during this time. In addition, having recently been through the education system myself, my students benefit from my experiences and understanding of the examination process.

When preparing students for A Level and GCSE exams it is important to polish their exam and revision techniques. With Maths and Physics, there is always a finite syllabus, a finite number of questions that can be asked based on that syllabus and black and white marks schemes. With this in mind, I work closely with all my students to tailor learning around their syllabus, in a structured, logical and progressive manner. In the past, students have commented that, not only have their maths and physics results improved, but their other subjects have improved in tandem due to the development of this transferable skill set.
