Information about Nigel

I`m a very engaging fun tutor who connects quickly with a tutee`s personality: this helps me prepare them for tests. I am an 11+ and 13+ specialist in English and Maths, educated at Oxford and Bristol. I`ve taught English and Maths at a top London prep school (St Philip`s; rated outstanding). This year, six of my pupils gained entry to City of London Boys, having been trained by me. I`ve also successfully helped children win entry to KCS Wimbledon, Eton, Westminster, Haberdashers, QE Grammar, and Henrietta Barnett. I have a first class BA in English from Bristol, a Masters from Oxford in Politics, and I am a PhD candidate in English at Royal Holloway.

My hourly rate includes all 11+ material required (most tutors will ask you to buy test prep books). I have a whole library of bespoke material for 11+ that I use to prep students for 11+ & pre-tests. I am fun, tap into a student`s natural interests, and train them rigourously in the ways of 11+ and 13. For feedback I can happily send you the link to my feedback page - or references from happy parents!

I also teach GCSE and A level English (and Politics) and my students have gone from Es to As in their exams - thus winning their places at top universities.

I absolutely love what I do. Previously, I was a BBC & Channel Four television producer. I made programmes with Jon Snow, Boris Johnson, Gordon Brown, and well known presenters. I`ve also worked at a political analyst advising multinationals on investments in Asia.

Experience: English & Maths Teacher, St Philip`s School, Kensington Sept 2016 - July 2019
I taught Year 5 and Year 6 pupils at a top prep school (rated `Outstanding` by Ofsted). This included teaching students across the ability range, using a range of approaches that also suit SEN students.

As a private tutor - my 11+ and 13+ pupils have gained entry to UCS Hampstead, QE Boys, Merchant Taylor`s and Highgate (2016 - 2019).

I also love tutoring GCSE English - teaching essay technique to boost exam performance.

11+ Teacher, [contact detail removed] tutoring centre, Harrow. 2015/16
I was in charge of teaching the 11+ prep courses in Maths, English and Reasoning. Pupils gained entry to Haberdashers` Aske`s, Henrietta Barnett, QE Boys Grammar and North London Collegiate.

Here are just a few responses from happy parents....

";Nikita got offers from Haberdasher`s and Henrietta Barnett after being taught by Nigel at BYT...She plumped for Habs! She found Nigel`s comprehension and writing prep very useful, which ensured she was able to get the higher marks. Nigel really helped in explaining word problems and quicker methods in the Maths..."; Mrs Bhardwaj, Harrow

";Derin applied to Habs and Henrietta Barnett. She found the comprehension exercises covered by Nigel at BYT helped her structure her answers well in Henrietta Barnett`s tougher comprehension tests. Derin thoroughly enjoyed the Year 6 extension course and found Nigel`s Maths and English teaching rigorous and fun."; Mrs Butler, Harrow

";Avanti applied to North London Collegiate and Haberdasher`s and got in with flying colours! Nigel`s teaching at BYT boosted her confidence across Reasoning, English and Maths and she felt very well prepared."; Mrs Chilkoti, Harrow
