Information about Debra
I am a qualified secondary school teacher in History and French and have taught children, via Home and Hospital Tuition, from Reception age upwards. I currently work in one of the top independent schools in England and also, part-time, for a Developmental Language Disorder School (DLD) in Surrey.
I have amassed a lot of experience teaching and understanding children with special needs in both mainstream and special schools. Through personal and professional experience, I have strategies to support children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety and language disorders. I am in a far better place to understand children`s needs at this point in my career than at any other time and look back at the days when I was newer in my profession and training when I was less aware and capable of understanding and sympathising with the special needs I was aware of in passing.
Availability: I work every day but Sunday. I am almost fully booked up for September onwards, but will inevitably have spaces following Entrance Exams from November (hopefully) through to February. This is hopeful as some schools are pulling out of early exams in the Autumn term of 2020.
I am currently working part-time so I am available during the working day. Please message me if you want to have an idea of my availability during school hours.
Equally, I am happy to go to schools around the South East of England / South London to help your child - However, it tends to be independent schools which welcome visiting tutors.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: Since before COVID even, I am fortunate to have collected resources through years of teaching, so I can call upon a plethora of teaching materials and cherry-pick the best materials for whichever skill needs to be worked on. The books cover all areas of education, such as books which cater to specific SEN needs, those which deal in getting into particular schools: independent and grammar, for scholarships or general common entrance.
My tutoring experience hase covered students wanting to access or are at the following schools: Eton College, Dulwich College, Harrow, The King`s School Canterbury, Woldingham School, Whitgift School, Haberdasher Aske`s School, Aldenham School. Henrietta Barnett School, Dame Alice Owen`s, London Oratory School, Alleyn`s School, Dulwich Prep, James Alleyn`s Girls` School, Trinity School, South Croydon, Lancing College,Royal Russell School, Westminster School, Sutton Grammar, Sevenoak`s School, Oundle School, Caterham School, Haileybury, St. Margaret`s School, Bushey, Mill Hill School, Berkhampstead School, Queenswood, Worth School.
