Information about Sadie
I am a History PhD student and Oxford graduate based in London. For me, tutoring is a deeply rewarding profession because I enable students to achieve goals that may have seemed impossible before tuition. I love to see my students` confidence in their skills and knowledge improve: that`s what keeps me motivated as a tutor.
Availability: I am available on weekdays and weekday evenings, but I can discuss weekend slots.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring students aged 6+ privately since 2015. I primarily teach the following subjects, but I am always open to discussion about what other subjects might need attention in order to provide a holistic tutoring experience:
- English Literature and Language/ Literacy
- History
- History of Art
- Geography
- Science
- Maths
- 11+ entrance examinations, including verbal and non-verbal reasoning
- Oxbridge admissions, with a focus on English Literature and Language applications
- Essay and interview technique
My teaching style is tailored to the student; I never adopt a one size fits all approach. I like to work collaboratively with the student to find the methods that will rapidly improve memory recall, essay structure and writing technique, in order to tackle humanities exams. For Maths and Science, I enjoy working with students to find ways to approach problems that are fool-proof and easy to remember, replicate, and ace in an exam.
I adore English Literature and studied it for my BA at the University of Oxford. In my spare time I love to read and go to the theatre, and I strongly believe I can inspire students to find genuine pleasure in studying for their humanities exams.
