Information about Jody
Caring, organised and experienced English primary school educator with a passion for teaching Read Write Inc Phonics and mathematics. Within my 15 years of dedicated service in the field of education, I have developed a deep understanding of the foundational concepts necessary for young learners to excel in these subjects.
I employ visual strategies that make abstract learning into tangible concepts.
I just completed my BA honours Education, Childhood and Youth Degree.
I have two beautiful young adult children who are 17 and 21 years old. As well as my interest in education, I am also a digital art creator / collector. I am also a keen wildlife gardener, gamer and avid reader.
All the children I have had the pleasure of working with have met their expected targets and all of my students passed their Primary SATS - some pupils made accelerated progress. This year, all the children in my Read Write Inc children in year 1/2 passed the Phonics Statutory Screening Check.
Im currently working in EYFS with our 4 year olds and relishing the role.
Availability: Week evenings after 4.30 and Saturday from 12-1pm
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have worked in primary education for 15 years now and in that time, I have gained a wealth of experience in both keystages. I am employed at a local primary school in Crewe, where I held a full-time grade 6 class cover post (HLTA) for 6 years. This involved providing class support, targeted intervention and the necessary cover in both keystages.
I am now working as a cover teacher specialised in both keystages.
I am proud of my track record in delivering outstanding results in literacy, maths and reading. I have been trained to deliver Read Write Inc Phonics where over the last seven years, all of my pupils passed the Phonics Screening Check. In addition, Ive provided teaching for students with a range of Special Educational Needs. These include: autism, ADHD, ODD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, vision impairment, behavioural, social and emotional needs. As well as these needs, Im an advocate for mental health and am trained to provide pastoral support should a pupil require it.
I have now finished teaching a class full time and due to my degree workload, I am now employed in the same school as a cover teacher. I teach both primary keystages 1&2.
I believe learning should be fun so I always make sure my lessons are fun and engage the children. Im also a visual learner mysejf, so I utilise visual strategies to break down learning barriers.
Within Education, I possess a range of qualifications and training, including: BA Honours Degree In Education, Childhood and Youth, Foundation Degree in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Distinction), GNVQ In Intermediate Science (Distinction), NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Distinction), Paediatric First Aid, Read Write Inc Phonics ( 10 yrs experience) and I am trained to teach the RWI Spelling Programme
22.2.23 - I have now completed my degree, achieving a Bachelor of the Arts in Education, Youth and Childhood Studies with honours.
11/9/2023 - Im now working in EYFS with our 4 year olds.

Jody is an exceptional tutor. She helped my daughter go from being overwhelmed at the enormity of sats and maths to smiling, enjoying maths and achieving brilliant maths sats results ! She is patient, kind and teaches in such a caring manner. My daughter absolutely loved her tutor sessions with Jody. Jody delivers the sessions in a relaxed, informal way and it made me so happy to see my daughter enjoying maths and her confidence growing massively with Jodies support !

I have been really pleased with Jody from the start! My son has taken to the sessions really well. She is an excellent tutor, very friendly, punctual and patient. Explains the subject really well. Warmly recommended.
Tutors Response :
Hi,
It was a pleasure to tutor Ryan and it is really rewarding to still be able to teach him now in my phonics group. He is rapidly gaining fluency now and the full set 3 sounds. Its a joy to have seen him progress. :) Thank you for your lovely feedback.

Excellent tutor. My son is in year 6 and was really struggling with spelling and grammar. Since Jody has been tutoring him I am amazed with the improvement he has made. Jody makes learning fun and all leasons have been well planned around Joseph`s individual needs. My only regret is that we didn`t do this sooner.
Tutors Response :
