Information about Praneeth
I am a medical student, due to start my fifth year at Imperial College London, with previous experience in teaching. I have taught students at GCSE and A-Level and have also guided many prospective medical students into medical school. I am a high attaining student, both whilst in secondary school and at university with plenty of previous experience in teaching.
My teaching method is largely dependent on the student and their individual needs. My adaptability and flexibility as a tutor allows me to tailor the class to addressing my students` weakest areas. I believe strongly in the importance of having a solid foundation in knowledge, but I do also acknowledge time and work constraints when preparing for exams, so am able to work with students accordingly.
With the UKCAT and BMAT, I will take the student through the common questions that come up and then focus on filling gaps in knowledge. I can also help in reviewing their personal statements and with interview practice (both MMI and panel)
Availability: I am available to teach any day of the week, preferably in the afternoon and evenings.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I have previously tutored students in lower years for their GCSEs and A-Levels in the Sciences and Maths. I also used to maintain a website whilst in secondary school, which supplied revision resources to KS3 & GCSE students.
In the past year I have been involved in tutoring medical students and preparing them for their OSPEs/OSCEs (objective structured practical/clinical examinations). This has required me to teach them the content, test them and ensure understanding by replicating the exam and asking them to demonstrate the skills taught. Having run over 40 hours worth of these sessions, for which I have received very positive feedback, I have been able to hone my skills with regard to teaching difficult topics to younger students and being able to convey the information using different formats, whilst sustaining their enthusiasm for the subject.
I have also given talks at my secondary school regarding the medical school admissions process and consequently have been approached by several passionate students who have asked for help with their university applications. These students are currently studying at St George`s, UCL and Oxbridge universities. Hence, university application and advice is also something that I would be able to help with greatly.
