Information about Dan
Helping people improve and achieve the grades they need to do what they want to do next motivates me.
At A-level I achieved A*A*A, with my two A*s in Maths and Chemistry, and my A in Physics (AQA exam board).
At GCSE I gained 6 A*s, 2 As, and a B.
I am currently studying Chemical Engineering at Manchester University
As first year student I am fresh out of studying for my A-levels, I know exactly how stressful and challenging tests and exams are and therefore I bring a lot of personal experience and knowledge of how best to tackle both class tests, GCSE and A-level exams.
I will plan my lessons according to the appropriate specification depending on the exam board. As a result I will deliver relevant information in the way that the particular exam board prefers. Therefore my lessons will have the most significant impact on improving results. I will always ask if the way I am teaching is working and strive to modify my lessons according to each student.
In addition to lesson planning, I will also invest a personal drive to improve my student`s understanding because I enjoy helping others.
Availability: I am available from 5 onward on week days, some days earlier depending on my timetable. I am also available on weekends.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: During my A-levels I took part in Maths mentoring in which I met with the same year 7 student each week to help him with material he was struggling with. I was surprised how interesting and satisfying this experience turned out to be. As the year went by, and I began to get to know my student better, I found each lesson far easier as I could modify the way I explained new concepts to suit the way he thought. We would work together to prepare him for upcoming class tests and each improvement he made was motivating for both of us.
I will take the lessons I learnt from this mentoring into my future tutoring, and aim to learn how my students process new concepts so I can deliver information in the best and most comfortable way for them.
