Information about Karolina

Hello everyone!

My name is Karolina, I recently graduated from University College London with a 1st Class Honours degree in Natural Sciences. I will be starting a PhD in Physics at the University of York in February and would like to offer tutoring lessons to anyone interested.

My MSci degree was focused on Physics and Inorganic/Materials Chemistry, but I am also proficient with university level Maths, Computer Science, Biology and Statistics. I can also provide excellent support to anyone studying German, my native language.

I have a personal approach towards tutoring - whether the tutee requires catch-up, homework help, extra teaching to that which goes on in the classroom or all three, I will make sure to accommodate it. Additionally, I create personalised worksheets and homework questions tailored to the needs of each student. It is important to me that my students can feel engaged with the lessons and rewarded by their progress.

I can also offer training in various supplementary skills. This can include career advice, help with writing applications, presentation coaching, introductions to programming languages such as Python or Java, and how to use Latex as an alternative to MS Word to create professional looking documents. Such key competencies are highly valued by admissions tutors and recruiters alike and will give you an extra edge in your subject. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

I am available for both online and in-person lessons (using face masks).

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have been tutoring for seven years during secondary school, giving lessons mostly in Mathematics and Latin. During my final years I was co-leading several student clubs, teaching lower grade students in drama and art related subjects.

Before going to university, I spent one year volunteering as an integration assistant. In this role I accompanied physically disabled children to school, cared for their special needs and enabled them to be a fully integrated member of their class.

While at university, I was engaged with UCL’s widening participation team on several occasions. My aim was to introduce A-Level students to sciences at a university level, supporting them in project work and presentations and advise them on their career choices.
