Information about Jess

I am a university student studying Music at Clare College, Cambridge. I went to Fortismere School 2012-2017, where I obtained 13 A*s at GCSE - all core subjects plus Music, History, French, German, Drama and Additional Maths. At Camden School for Girls Sixth Form, I achieved 3 A*s at A level in Music, Maths and French. As well as being driven by academic study, I am a passionate practical musician. Last year I was Principal Double Bass of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and in 2018 I founded the Goldfinch Chamber Orchestra in London, which I conduct. I am happy to tutor GCSE and A level students in Music, Maths, or French, and younger students in all subjects. I`m very keen to gain experience in teaching, and I will always aim to be hardworking, compassionate and patient tutor.

Availability: I can be flexible with timings. 9-5 Mon-Fri is preferable, but weekends and evenings are also possible.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have a range of experience in working with and mentoring younger students. While studying for my A levels, I helped a group of younger students arrange and rehearse a song for the school musical. As Principal Double Bass in the National Youth Orchestra, I led rehearsals and workshops, mentoring other musicians, as well as leading Inspire workshops in Primary Schools. I have given feedback on several Personal Statements and University Applications to younger students. My confidence in leadership and mentoring is also shown through my passion for conducting orchestras, which I did regularly in Cambridge before the pandemic.
