Personal Descri ption:
I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, specialising in paediatrics and a PhD student studying language and communication in autism. Having worked as both a tutor and speech and language therapist, I have developed a passion for teaching and have the future career goal of being a lecturer. I have excellent communication skills, a friendly personality and enthusiasm to motivate my students. Additionally I enjoy competitive fencing and play violin and piano.

Full member registered with Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).


Tutoring Approach:
- Positive and Friendly: I aim to build student`s confidence to tackle trickier questions with encouragement and positive feedback.
- Encourage Independence: I encourage student to think for themselves so over time they become less reliant on guidance.
- Use combination of real-life examples and past paper questions: This ensures the student has full understanding of concepts in both real life and in preparation for exams.
- Teamwork: I want the student to see this a team effort so set clearly defined goals with the student at the start of each block, ensuring they take responsibility for their own learning but know they have help and guidance when needed.

Experience: - Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, I was required to work one on one with children, teaching basic language and communication skills to a wide range of abilities. Involved working with children with additional support needs on a regular basis.
- Tutor for Explore Learning (Darnley), I am a trained tutor and taught Maths, English, Phonics and Science to children aged 5-14 years with teaching centred around Scottish Curriculum.
- I have received formal education in Biology and Psychology at undergraduate level, English at A-Level and Maths at GSCE level.
