I am a fully qualified primary school teacher and I am offering Maths and English lessons to children currently working at KS1 or KS2 level.

During my career, I have taught across a range of primary year groups which has given me a strong understanding of the curriculum and subject development. I believe there is more to a good education than just learning facts. It is vital that children fully understand the concepts they learn in order for them to apply their skills to real-life practice. This also provides them with the foundations they need to further their education and development in these subjects.

During my maths teaching, I aim to ensure that mathematical concepts are not just learnt, but that they are also understood. This will help to build confidence as well as laying the foundations for future learning in the subject. I focus on using visual aids to explain and model concepts in depth before looking at practical strategies for problem solving.

In terms of English/Literacy teaching, I teach grammatical concepts within the context of writing using a range of genres from story writing to informative text. This helps to consolidate understanding of the grammar in a real-life and meaningful way. If reading is something you would like support with, I am experienced in teaching phonics and will focus on the skills needed to successfully comprehend a text.

Experience: After Graduating university with a 2:1 degree in music, I trained as a primary school teacher and achieved QTS (qualified teacher status) and a PGCE. I spent two years teaching KS2 in an `outstanding` primary school, before moving to Germany where I taught KS1 in an international school for a year.
I am now back in the UK and continue to work as a primary school teacher in KS2.
