Information about Louise

Hello, my name is Louise, I am 33 years old and living in North Finchley. I am a mother of two children, a 3 year old girl and a 15 month old little boy.
I have always enjoyed working with children and have wanted to teach from a very young age, I went in to tutoring for the experience, both classroom experience and how to set and understand the work.
Tutoring has taught me numerous things in relation to children and education.
I have been tutoring for 10 years, teaching English and maths to primary school aged children, I have tutored children from 3 years old to 11 years old. In this time, I have also tutored for 11 plus exams, including verbal and non- verbal, maths and English.

Availability: I am available after school most days and during schools holidays if needed. I am also available for any extra lessons in the run up to exams.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: After my tutoring session I like set the children a small amount of homework, this is to help solidify the learning of the child.

During my time tutoring many of my previous students have gone on to achieve high SATs results and past their 11 plus exams and attend popular secondary schools, such as Queen Elizabeth Boys, Dame Alice Owen and non- entrance exam school Queen Elizabeth Girls.

I like to make the lessons tailored to the individual child as much as possible, meeting their individual needs and goals, I have learnt that some areas take a longer time to fully grasp and understand so I tend not to rush over these subjects.

Learning their time tables and be able to write creatively are two of the main areas I feel that children should be able to achieve before the end of primary school.

As well as tutoring primary school aged children I have also tutored a number of adults, some wanted to improve their everyday English both spoken and written, and others wanted a bit of extra help in passing the standard English tests.

Before going on maternity I was working in class whilst the class teacher taught remotely, I was able to see first hand how this method of teaching did not suit every child, whilst physically in class I was able to help the children bridge any gaps they had in their learning, before helping them with their given task for the lesson. Lock down and time away from learning has created gaps in both learning and confidence, a gap I feel able to reduce and not seem so scary with a little time and patience.

Having Louise as a tutor has made a huge difference on our son: built his confidence, motivated him and made him believe he can do it. Her natural and friendly nature made the tutoring fun and created a nice bond between them. Thank you Louise!
