Information about Kai

Hi! I am a patient, enthusiastic undergraduate studying BSc Computer Science.

I have a very strong academic background, with A*A*A*A*A* at A level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computer Science and French, and 9 A**s at GCSE. Studying 5 competitive and difficult A-levels with an intense workload, I developed efficient learning skills to guarantee improvement in my exams, and am sure to pass these on to whoever I teach.

Something I always encourage when I tutor, is developing a deeper understanding of something rather than memorising line after line like we are often told to do. That satisfying lightbulb moment when you reach a new level of understanding is difficult to match, and I love to help students get there. This not only makes learning more fun and engaging, but helps you remember things better and makes your life much easier. I also like to make use of diagrams: I`ve always found that you learn something much better if you are able to picture or imagine it, because this allows you to make a mental and visual connection to problems.

Overall, I love to teach because knowing that I can be the light at the end of the tunnel for a student struggling in their exams makes me happy, and lets me know that one day I can hopefully do the same for my child, and them for their own.

Experience: In both secondary school and sixth form, I always volunteered to spend extra time with my classmates, both face to face and online, to teach them a topic and had great success. I was often told that I explained concepts better than the teachers and that I should become a tutor.

As the Leader of Learning for Mathematics in college, I spent time every lunch for 2 years freely tutoring students struggling in mathematics and always saw an increase in their subsequent exam scores. I also volunteered on multiple open days for both physics and mathematics to explain concepts to newcomers to introduce them to the course.
