About Me:

I bring a vibrant mix of patience, fun, and boundless energy to my teaching. I`m a qualified teacher with a first class Batchelor`s and Master`s degree in English and a robust background in both state and private schools, teaching hundreds of students from Years 7-13 English language and literature. I have an infectious love for my subject, fostering an environment where learning becomes an enjoyable challenge.

Teaching Approach:

No two learners are the same, and I know that tailoring my approach to the unique needs of each student is the key to unlocking their potential. I have had great success working with reluctant readers, passionate scholars who want to tip their work up to full marks, students who have fallen out of love with the subject, and those just looking to consolidate their learning before moving onto the next step in their learning.

I specialise in helping students not only grasp the subject matter but also fall in love with the art of English language and literature.

Student Progression:

One of my favourite parts of teaching is witnessing the incredible progression of my students. From mastering grammatical intricacies to delving into the depths of classic literature, I`ve seen individuals transform into confident, articulate communicators. Together, we`ll not only navigate the challenges of academic English, but also explore the beauty of creative expression.

I have taken A-Level students from C to A* in one year, and GCSE tutees from level 5 to level 9 in just over a year. Every pupil I tutor makes progress and gets results.

Specialisation:

I have a knack for turning reluctant readers and learners into avid English enthusiasts by making learning enjoyable and relevant. Whether it`s dissecting Shakespearean sonnets or tackling grammar and syntax, I make every lesson engaging and relatable, fostering a genuine love for the subject. During sessions, we can work through past exam papers, revise key texts, develop essay writing skills and practise exam and essay techniques. Outside of sessions, I offer personalised project work and feedback if required.

Experience: I have taught English GCSE and A Level for six years, and have worked in education for over ten years. I am a fully qualified teacher with "Outstanding" qualified teacher status, have worked as an English GCSE examiner for Edexcel, and have trained English teachers and tutors to maximise learning outcomes for their students. I have a track record of helping reluctant learners to love English and excel in their exams.
