I have been teaching for over 35 years.
Too many children have acquired an ";I can`t do maths"; attitude by the time they leave KS1 and it impedes progress in maths from then on.
My approach uses concrete resources and games. I have been designing maths and phonics games for many years and the published ones are available. When I tutor, I assess the areas of difficulty and design games specifically to address them. This requires homework on my part but then I leave the games to be played between sessions and modify them as progress is made.
For many years, I spent two months of every year teaching teachers in Tanzania and I have written teachers` manuals for the teaching of mathematics in the first three years of primary school (published in 2013) and the fourth one is in draft form but not yet translated.
I have also worked for Adult Education in Cumbria, delivering literacy and numeracy courses to parents, and have taught maths courses to home-educating parents.

Experience: Prior to my move to Cumbria, I worked for Kent Adult Education Service for nine years. I delivered Family Learning courses for parents on how to help their children with literacy and numeracy. I also taught learning through play, "Chatter Matters" and puppet-making courses.
I have taught in: Montessori schools in the UK and Hong Kong primary schools in the UK, Hong Kong, Tanzania and Uganda and special school in the UK.
