I have recently graduated from Oxford University (July 2017) with a BA in English Language and Literature. I am due to begin my MLitt (masters in literature) at St Andrews University in September, for which I have won a scholarship place. I will be available to tutor students in St Andrews and in neighbouring areas come the beginning of my course. I am available to tutor in Glasgow during Christmas, Easter and summer vacations. I will also be home some weekends, so I may be available to tutor in Glasgow at these times.
Having been educated through the Scottish curriculum and having sat numerous SQA exams, I am familiar with the kinds of skills examiners are looking for, especially in close reading, textual analysis, and essay writing. Between August 2017 and June 2018, I privately tutored students of all abilities and levels, ranging from Primary to National 5 and Higher.
I understand that English can be a tricky subject, and I recognise the essential value of being patient, diplomatic and understanding in a learning environment. I know how enjoyable and liberating English can be, and I want to encourage others to see this side of it by making my lessons as interesting as possible. Above all, I will work in a way which best suits the varied needs and individual styles of different students.

BA (Hons) from Oxford University in English Language and Literature
I have taught pupils aged 9-12 at a summer school in England.
I often prepared class presentations and peer-marked the essays of other students in my year at university.
I have privately tutored students between 2017 and 2018 in preparation for their National 5 and Intermediate 2 examinations. This involved working with past papers, marking instructions, textbooks, and literature exercises.
