Information about Amy

Positive, engaging and excellent communicator with a passion for making learning fun for even the most reluctant students. I use a lot of humour in my teaching practice and I find that most students are able to relate to my methods; I often find that having a more kinaesthetic approach has a massive impact on progress. I have taught KS3 to KS5, including a variety of SEND students.

My academic history is in English, Theatre Studies and Communication at A-Level(AAB) my degree is in Media and Cultural Studies (2:1)

Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after 5pm
Weekends are negotiable.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I am an examiner for AQA in both Language and Literature, so can provide excellent support for exam preparation. Whilst I teach a variety of abilities at KS4, I predominantly see most success and progress with those students who are aiming to move from a grade 4 to 5. However, I have also had several students achieve grades 8 and 9 in English Language.

Current English teacher in secondary education with responsibility for catch-up students (low ability). I am a literacy specialist within my current role too.

Prior to going into teaching, I was an area manager within retail. This has given me industry experience which has had a positive impact on my students, especially those at KS4 and KS5.
