I am very enthusiastic about education and about working with people. My passion is helping people work through the obstacles holding them back, thus enabling them to be the best that they can be.
I have been tutoring for nine years; for the last two years, it has been my full time job. I believe that the unique one-to-one learning environment of tutoring can be incredibly powerful and that progress can be seen fast.
My background is in Law; I have an LLB for which I received First Class Honours, and I just completed an LLM for which I received a distinction. I have also trained in Coaching and Motivational Interviewing, and where it could be helpful and is appropriate I incorporate some of this into my tutoring.
I am deeply interested and passionate about the subjects that I tutor. I believe that the key to effective tutoring is to actively engage the tutee and get them thinking about the subject. I believe the ultimate aim should be to empower and enable the tutee to effectively formulate their own arguments and opinions around a particular topic.
Outside of work some of my main interests include reading, writing and performing poetry, travelling and fitness.
