Information about Charlotte

I am a professional, passionate and approachable examiner and have experience as a Head of Psychology at a local independent school. I hold a First Class honours degree in Psychology and I have recently achieved a Distinction in my Masters of Education. Additionally I won the Kent Psychology teacher of the Year Award in 2015 of which my school and students nominated me for. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and helping students reach their true potential using a variety of teaching methods. I offer a pupil led approach to tutoring, tailoring my sessions to the needs of the student and their own targets and abilities. I can recap areas of misunderstanding in the specification and give additional resources where required. I use a variety of exam questions and exemplar essays to ensure sessions are exam focused, adapting my teaching methods to the needs of the student. I want to ensure that we work together so that they are learning in a way that they not only prefer but enjoy! I do set homework in the form of past exam questions which I can then mark and give detailed feedback on.

Availability: I am now available to take bookings for students starting immediately. I only take on two/three students a year as I feel this allows me the chance to focus properly on each individual and the flexibility to arrange sessions that suit. I have space for 1 or 2 students depending on the number of sessions desired.

I am happy to do 1, 1.5 or 2 hour sessions weekly or fortnightly.

I am currently on maternity leave and return to work in June, which means I can be quite flexible. I can offer tutoring until 8pm in the evening Tuesday- Friday based on my current students. I am happy to offer more tutoring sessions over school holidays if requested.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have acted as the Head of a successful Psychology Department for four years teaching the AQA syllabus. At the end of my maternity leave I am taking a step down from the role in order to go part time to look after my children. However I still work in the same department three days a week. This gives me flexibility to take on more private tuition. I also continue in my role as an examiner for the AQA board. I pride myself on my excellent professional working relationships with my colleagues and students, up to date subject knowledge and understanding of AQA and exam specifications. I taught Psychology at a highly successful Girls Grammar School in Kent for two years after achieving a Distinction in my PGCE in Social Sciences. I then relocated for my current role four years ago. I have been a Psychology tutor for four years.
