Information about Rebecca

Hello! My name is Becky and I am a current teacher of Maths. I am incredibly passionate about working with young people and find job satisfaction in their own pride and light bulb moments. I believe to be an excellent teacher you have to be passionate and engaged. These are qualities I try to bring to every teaching experience.
I have worked in schools since 2014 and had previous experience tutoring both in Maths and English.
As a practitioner I believe in getting to know the learner as an individual. No two people are the same and so wherever possible learning experiences should be altered to suit their needs.
I understand the competitive and challenging world our young people are growing up in. More and more, the youth of today are becoming aware of the difficulties of navigating into adulthood and the importance of a good education in their journey.
I like to work collaboratively with students to identify their goals as a means of motivation. I find that almost all of us, regardless of age, feel more engaged and work to the best of our ability if there is a clear point and opportunities for achievement.
Wherever possible I differentiate to accomodate the needs of pupils but hold each individual accountable for a high standard of engagement.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have worked in schools for the past 7 years in various capacities.

I started my journey working as a classroom support assistant providing small group and one to one assistance to those who required it. During this time I completed several in house training around Dyscalculia and Dyslexia. I also received training on how to adapt teaching strategies to those with EHCP and SEN.

I then transfered into pastoral mentoring and behaviour management. Therefore I have a great deal of experience working with disengaged young people. Whilst working in behaviour management I took part in the following additional training: First Aid level 3, Attachment Disorders and Play as Therapy.

From this role I went on to work as a cover teacher, teaching lessons across KS3 and across the curriculum.

I finally found my true calling in education when I went on to teach Maths as my entire timetable. I get a great amount of joy from helping young people achieve those "lightbulb" moments in a topic which may otherwise seem daunting.

I have taught all abilities across KS3 and KS4 as well as teaching financial studies.
Outside of work I have tutored individuals for 3 years in both Maths and English.
