Information about Clare

I graduated from Moray House, University of Edinburgh in 2006 with a PGDE in Secondary English. Since then, I have gained vast experience teaching in both Scotland and England. I have had the opportunity to teach children of a wide range of abilities and consider this a real strength. I am highly motivated, enthusiastic and use this to inspire the pupils that I teach. Literature is a real passion of mine and I enjoy Instilling this in young people. I am very patient and embrace the challenge of tailoring my teaching to suit the individual needs of all the pupils that I teach.
I am originally from Northern Ireland but have lived in Scotland for five years now. Walking my dog and going to the theatre are things I enjoy doing in my spare time. My time is very flexible so I would be able to arrange my visits to suit the child`s routine.
I employ at rapport based approach with the pupil`s needs at the core. I also think it is essential to utilise the feedback and results the student achieves in school to adapt their tutoring sessions. In order for tuition to be successful, I think it is important to foster an environment which allows the student to respond to constructive criticism with confidence. Throughout my teaching career, I have successfully tutored a number of students who have benefitted from my sensitive and challenging approach to learning.

Availability: I am very flexible and can offering tutoring to suit the pupil`s availability.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have been teaching for eight years now and have produced outstanding results both in Scotland and England. I believe that the strength in my teaching experience lies in a rapport- based approach to learning. Fostering relationships with pupils, which allows them to feel confident in seeking additional support,is essential to improving their skills.I believe that tutoring should be an extension of their development in school so I use their results and feedback to help tailor their tuition to maximise their progress.
I have also been awarded `Advanced Skills teacher` status in recognition of my success and leadership during my teaching career. Through this role, I was responsible for developing resources and a curriculum for students who required additional support in specific areas. I believe this is a real asset to my experience.
