Information about Jessica

I am including some recent testimonials from clients.

I have tutored Adam in Drama and prepared him for auditions and university interviews since 16/4/16. His mother recently wrote to me to say this:

I am delighted to tell you that Adam has been offered a place at Bedford University. He is thrilled. Thankyou again for your help, he gained his confidence back thanks to you. One very happy young man.

I have tutored Theodora across the range of ten GCSE subjects and supported her with revision technique, exam technique and mock exams since 2016. Her mother has provided this testimonial:

Jessica Garrett came to us as a  tutor for my daughter.  Jessica stayed with us for a number of weeks each school holiday over a period of two years.
Jessica was very pleasant to have around the house, cheerful, helpful and polite.  She was a very good tutor, engaging my daughter in her studies with her enthusiasm and fun.
I would happily recommend Jessica as a tutor or in any role that was making use of her good communication skills.
I wish her the best of luck for the future.

This tutor was extremely unreliable, we purchased her details, she called me up once and kept changing the dates and never turned up. This was my daughter`s GCSE year. Very disappointed........

Tutors Response :

I wish to complain back in the strongest terms. I have checked my records and this client asked for a discount. I provided info on my fees and no arrangement was entered into. They decided to purchase my details despite not agreeing to my prices or any arrangement. I am extremely angry that they feel justified in attacking my reputation when we have indeed not met nor put any arrangements in place. In addition this was nearly a year ago during which time they could have found a tutor six months before the GCSEs. I have never met them, do not regard them as a client and do not accept responsibility for their daughter`s GCSEs especially when their main concern appeared to be cost rather than academic prowess.

We found Jessica via TutorHunt when looking for a Tutor for my Son who is in the final year of his English Literature A-Level. He has had 2 lessons, so far, and has been very impressed with Jessica who has inspired him to do well already. We have found Jessica very pleasant to deal with and would recommend her to anyone looking for a good tutor.

Tutors Response :

Thanks Jeanette! I really enjoy teaching Charles and look forward to our future sessions. Much appreciated comments. Thanks.

Unfortunately very unreliable. Several transport issues and change of dates. In the end we didn`t even complete the pre paid for course.

Tutors Response :

I am sad and surprised to read this. I don`t feel it`s entirely fair. Although I did experience transport issues early on, this was resolved with lift arrangements and I believe that I did complete the hours. I mainly dealt with the student`s mother who communicated that she was happy with the content and quality of my tutoring and understanding of my situation. I will check my records but I believe that I completed the paid for hours. If this is not the case I can arrange a refund. I hope that Max found our sessions useful. It was my sibcere belief that he did.

Not very reliable. Went away to sort some situations out and said she would contact me. Never heard from her again, so it left my daughter with no tutor during GCSE years.

Tutors Response :

I am not sure who this is exactly! I can only think that it may be a client from several months ago when I lived in a different part of the country. This client did not prepay and paid me weekly so I do not believe I had entered a long term commitment. I was also clear that I had to move to a different part of the country. For a few weeks we attempted online tutoring but could not get the technology to match up sadly. I am very sorry that this person feels disappointment (if indeed it is this person and not an admin error) as I always enjoyed teaching her daughter. However with the best will in the world it is impossible to tutor from hundreds of miles away without adequate tech set up and rather unreasonable to expect a rolling weekly one hour session to dictate where I live and to take priority over personal circumstances. I have not heard from this person since Easter which is why I`m slightly shocked by this feedback. I suppose it is a backhanded compliment in a way to suggest that my departure from her city several months ago has left her daughter without a tutor but also rather silly! I can`t believe that I`m the only suitable tutor in Bristol. Still I`m sad to hear such feedback and would welcome clarification on what has motivated this.

Thank you.

Jessica

Never used a tutor before, but Jess has been really helpful during the lead up to my son`s English exams.
She improved his confidence in the subject and had a great deal of knowledge about the texts and exam technique. We are very grateful - THANK YOU!
