Information about Andrew

Based in West London, I have an MA in English from the University of Cambridge, St John`s College. I am patient, fun, and empathetic. As a result, I get on really well with my students, and have seen particular improvements in my students with dyslexia and SEN.

I will only take on a handful of students, in order to ensure that I can give each student the individual attention they need to excel.

GCSE Grades: 9 A* and 5 A
A Level: A*AAA

Availability: Wednesday-Friday daytimes and evenings

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: In addition to teaching at a tuition centre and at King`s College School Wimbledon, I have spent the last seven years tutoring students of all ages and abilities in English, Maths and Entrance Exams.

I specialise in helping with primary and 11+ Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal reasoning; my teaching experience also makes me uniquely placed to develop skills across the English curriculum, including:

- KS1 and KS2 reading comprehension and creative writing
- 8+, 11+, and 13+ English and Reasoning entrance exams
- KS3 English support and development
- Spelling and handwriting development
- GCSE and IGCSE Literature and Language (all exam boards)
- A Level Literature
- Oxbridge and UCAS applications
- BA English support
- Proof-reading and adult ESL support

I have taught both those who need help and those who want a challenge, but the aim is always to secure a comfortable understanding of the subject, ensuring success.

In recent years, my students have received offers for the following schools:

Streatham and Clapham
Queens College

Andy has taught my son for almost a year. He is brilliant with our son, who is mildly dyslexic and doing his 11 plus. Lessons were taught via Zoom; they are effective and worked perfectly well for us. I have no hesitation in recommending Andy. Our son has thoroughly enjoyed learning with him whilst making substantial progress in his writing and comprehension.

Andy is an excellent tutor. He is working with my 6 year old son for the 7+ exams and he is fantastic with him. My son really likes his lessons and looks forward to them. Andy is also punctual and professional.
