Information about Dan
I am a passionate, qualified and professional educator of students both young and old.
My approach to teaching is built upon the foundation of a relaxed atmosphere. I strive to work co-operatively and efficiently with the student, meticulously identifying weaker areas and then developing them at a thorough yet considerate pace for each and every one of my students.
When working at KS3 level my aim is to build upon essential rules and practices which when entrenched within a learner allow for a much smoother transition into the GCSE standard of work.
My GCSE tutees can expect a tailored pattern of sessions which will focus on fine tuning their areas which need improving as well as enforcing exam technique and practice to maximise chances of achieving their goals.
As an experienced A level lecturer, the provision I offer will be designed around the subjects being studied and the modules being taken, with whichever examination body the student is working with. Much of this will be designed around good exam practice and evaluative techniques. I can also provide any further knowledge building that may be required.
If you are studying for a degree or studying as a mature learner I can offer some great bespoke guidance sessions. These can include anything you require them to, from proofreading work, discussing reading, dissertation topics etc. Feel free to get in touch and we can have a dialogue about the type of guidance you would require.
Flexibility is one of my key strengths when it comes to one to one tuition. The needs of the tutee remain paramount and tracking progress and achievement is atop my priority list.
Availability: Flexible/arranged by negotiation.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I am experienced at teaching English Language and Literature, Sociology and Philosophy from KS3 to A-Level.
I have taught young people from all of these age ranges in a variety of settings as well as adult students.
My most recent teaching position has been within a CAMHS hospital, as a result of this I remain confident and comfortable working with students who may have ASD and other additional or mental health needs.
I have spent some time lecturing social science to adults as part of an HE Access programme and really enjoy working alongside mature learners as much as I do young people.
I possess extensive experience in planning and delivering content to both large classes of students and small groups of high need learners.
