Information about Qasim
Hi, my name is Qasim, and I am a third year medical student at Imperial College School of Medicine. I am really interested in helping young people throughout their time at school, and having recently gone through the process myself, I believe that I can give relevant help and advice, whilst also sharing my approach to working. I find tutoring richly rewarding, and enjoy seeing my students progress and be successful in all their endeavours.
I like to keep my approach to tutoring quite flexible, as I believe it isn`t wise to assume everyone learns in the same way, some may learn better through videos, others through reading a textbook. What I like to do is try and establish which method the student is most receptive to, then teach in that manner. However, what I think is very important, is that the student understands the work. Thats my main focus when teaching. If they can understand the content, as opposed to just memorise it, it makes learning it significantly easier, and means they will be better prepared for the exams. I think its best to create a relaxed atmosphere, and I try my best to make the student as comfortable as possible during my tuition.
Availability: I am extremely flexible on timings, however weekends and evenings are probably the best times for me.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have quite a bit of experience teaching and tutoring, which has allowed me to develop a successful approach to tuition. I tutored biology, chemistry and maths at a GCSE level in sixth form to year 10 students for a whole year. I have also spent time teaching and helping my relatives through the 11+ exam, and have extensive resources for the 11+, covering all aspects of the test. I spent this entire summer privately tutoring a boy for the 11+, specifically in his english, in which his average managed to improve by 30% in 6 weeks. Throughout my time at uni, I have done tutorial sessions and lectures for my peers, and students in the year below.
