Information about Zara
As a teacher, I strongly believe in providing a sound and robust education to all, thus I encourage high aspirations through setting high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge all students in realising their true potential. My passion for teaching and my subject, Chemistry, allows me to provide a learning environment that facilitates and encourages student understanding, where every student is able to develop and progress academically but also socially, emotionally and mentally too.
Alongside being a teacher, I am also an ex RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry) scholar and have attend CPD sessions on effective teaching to ensure ALL students progress. I offer a tailored experience, which is specific to each tutee, two lessons on the same topic are never 100% the same as I focus on the strength and weaknesses YOU have, it will never be an `one fits all approach`.
My specialism is KS5 Chemistry, I have completed a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and then a PGCE in Secondary Science, therefore I am able to teach all three sciences at KS3 and KS4.
Availability: Available weekday evenings and weekends, for further information contact on [contact detail removed]
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I am an experienced A-level Chemistry teacher who has now been teaching in an Outstanding 16-19 provision for 2 years, I have been privately tutoring for 3 years. My students and tutees often say I am very understanding and able to simplify tough scientific concepts into steps that are then easy to follow, I have an extensive collection of well developed and exam question focused resources to ensure success.
To begin, I often arrange a free diagnostic call/meeting with the tutee and/or guardian to obtain information on:
- Current progress on course (current grade and target grade)
- Strength and weaknesses within the subject
- Discuss/analyse previous assessments conducted in school/college
The purpose of this is to ensure there is a nice, friendly conversation before you feel like you are committed to something, I know I like talking to someone first to get a general idea of what it is they offer :)
