A passionate and experienced teacher, I teach English, Maths, and 11+ Prep. – with Maths to KS2 level (preparation for SATs or 11+), English Language up to A level, and Literature up to Undergraduate level. I also teach advanced English lessons – either conversational or grammar-focused – for adult learners who want to improve their English professionally.

I hold an MA in Literary Theory, a BA in English & Comparative Literature, and have over three years’ teaching and proofreading experience.

For GCSE, A-Level, and IB English (Language and Literature) I tailor study towards exam boards in a ‘grade-focused’ way which includes practice with analytic writing, as well as creative writing. However, I also try to instil a sense of understanding in my students – so that aspects of literature such as language/poetic techniques and their effects are not simply something to be rote-learned for grades, but act as part of an effective and transferable toolkit which can be applied widely in later life to things ranging from workplace communication to reading the news.

I have a current DBS check and do lessons either from my home in Canterbury, online, or in a friendly local café setting.
