Information about Charles

Physicist (and Member of the Institute of Physics), I offer tuition in physics at KS3, GCSE, A level and degree level. At degree level, I currently offer several areas of first year undergraduate physics, and depending on the area, I might stray into the second year, but not the third (or final) year. I occasionally offer general science at KS3 and triple science at GCSE, but at present, I have no vacant slots here.

I have been tutoring for several years, but I actually started out in healthcare before eventually turning to physics and achieving a first class honours—it is a subject that really challenged my perception of the Universe! My tutorials are a mixture of face-to-face and online tuition—I have been providing online tuition since 2020. Content-wise, my regular tutorials are made up of discussions of various concepts, and for GCSE and A level, exploration of many (many) past exam papers across several exam boards—the more you see, the better you become at doing them!

The exam-focused nature of my physics and science tutorials mean that my style may not suit everyone and so you will have to consider whether my method is the best one for you.

And for (aspiring) computer programmers, I offer (online) tutorials in a number of programming languages, principally Python and Javascri pt (with HTML and CSS), and to lesser extents, C++ and SQL (`MySQL` variant). Many physicists learn programming skills (and I`m no exception), but unlike my physics (and science) tutorials, which are geared at passing exams, my programming tutorials are really targeted at beginners rather than seasoned professionals, and giving such learners, the confidence to navigate their way through the more advanced stages of programming.

Availability: I am available for `instant tutoring`, particularly on course questions you may be stuck on. I welcome questions from:
General science at KS3
Physics at KS4, A level, and bachelor`s degree (for degree level, mostly first year topics with some second year topics, depending on topic)

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: KS3, GCSE, A level / level 3, as well as functional skills.

DBS Check: Yes

My son used to struggle with Physics. He didn’t get it so he didn’t even know how to express what he didn’t know. I am so fortunate we met Charles. Within two sessions he discussed with my son what the subject Physics is about, what energy is etc. He set homework every session, forcing my son to think about what, where and why. In just 3 or so sessions, my son is one of the top students in his class and has so quickly developed an enthusiasm for the subject. Charles is a delightful, professional teacher. He is organised and takes pride in his lessons and I can see he cares about my son achieving his potential. Thank you Charles
